Megalith Grave in Winter by J. C. Dahl, c.1825. Norwegian painter Dahl did plenty of traveling during his career; he went to Copenhagen, Dresden, Rome and Naples. Megalith Grave in Winter is most likely painted in Germany or during his regular trips back to Norway. A megalith is a large standing stone related to prehistory.
