
The Bath by Suzanne Valadon, 1908. Though Valadon is perhaps better known as being the muse of many an Impressionist painting, as well as the mother of artist Maurice Utrillo, she was in fact quite a successful artist in her own right. This simple chalk and charcoal sketch shows a real attention to the accentuation of tones and colours created by light.
