Giovanni Boldini, 1908, La Marchesa Luisa Casati with a Greyhound
Yesterday was spent pouring over books on Boldini in the National Library of Art at the Victoria and Albert Museum for my essay. I adore these edgy glamourous portraits by the Italian ‘master of swish’; I think I’ll be writing about this painting of heiress and patron of the arts, Luisa Casati, and portraits of Consuela Vanderbilt and Gertrude Campbell.
