Symphony in White Major Absolution II (detail) by Damien Hirst, 2006. This is the first, and probably last, Damien Hirst piece I will post. Anyone that knows me will know that I am not a fan. To me, this piece is beautiful and yet unforgivingly upsetting. It doesn’t make me think about how fleeting life is or the beauty of nature’s life cycles. It simply makes me uncomfortable. However, whatever you feel when you look at a Hirst, it is sure to be a strong feeling, positive or negative.
